no..
but there are so many times I wish I had of smiled or said hello..
it really does make a person feel good..especially the older...
it's just down right good manners...
if I'm not in the best of moods, for whatever reason..I've tried to park it before entering the public...

maybe not wrong but it aint right either. What's the harm in returning the sentiment/ friendly gesture? Has it occurred to you that the person really didn't want to smile at you, but was trying to be polite? I make a habit to smile because it takes less muscles in the face to do so than look mean and frown. Then you look ugly and age faster. That's the consequences of being mean and grumpy.

A smile never hurts. Although you might not know it, a single smile to a stranger could brighten up their dark and depressive world. So go on....fill yourself with the warm glow of friendliness and smile away!

It is of courtesy to smile back at them. It takes X bones to smile and XX bones to frown. Smile is free. It doesnt requires you to fork out any money. So just give them a smile.

Not necisarily, but i think that in the good ol' US of A a smile is just a courtious and friendly thing. I guess you don't have to smile back if you dont want to, but usually if someone smiles at you, even if they don't know you, they are just being friendly. I always smile back :-)

You're rude if you don't smile at someone who smiles at you. It doesn't mean you have to know them, just return the kind gesture. Unless they seem like a creep weirdo.
