Sure have. Last Christmas I drew someones name and spent from Thanksgiving on making a beautiful quilt. Everyone raved over it. I put a lot of time in it, thinking about the stuff she liked, colors she liked. And I also got her a nice box of chocolates (she loves candy). Somehow she drew my name. She sells Mary Kay. All I got was a small handful of USED samples, in a dirty bag. She didn't care, or take any time. Also she knew I am allergic to that make up. The whole family knew. I threw the nasty bag of used make up in the trash, right there. I caught her getting it out a little later. And watched her put on the lipstick and blush in the car. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!! She is no longer in the family (divorced). I was pissed. But hubby fixed it, after Christmas he took me to a day spa for the day. (Kinda double gift, fixing the gift exchange flub and it was my push gift (for having a baby right before Christmas)).

Well, I don't want to say I was cheated out of a gift exchange but the rule was to spend at least $10 and buy an ornament. There are some cute ornaments for $5, so this was a good price range. I took the time to find a really nice ornament for that price and was happy with my purchase. I even put it in a nice holiday bag with tissue and ribbon - a pretty presentation. I ended up with a hideous ornament that was so plain, it was one that was remade from when I was a kid; the round faded blue kind that looked like a miniature disco ball but it was BIG and hideous. I could have screamed. At my desk, I just tossed it into the trash. I was really disappointed in that person's effort!

Oh yes. I never get tired of telling my story. I spent the week before Xmas raking my brain for a chick i didn't even know that well. Found out she like Care Bears so i bought her one for about $20. What did i get (not to mention it was after the holidays) stationary paper! Yea..sure it had cute Lil rainbows and hearts on the page but come on. She must of paid like $5 on it....if even that much. I def. learned from that mistake. Dint give to those you aren't sure about (personality wise).

Our spending limit was $20 one year. I got someone a gift card from Best Buy. When I opened my gift (in front of everyone!) it was a brown bag full of used romance novels. Isn't that the worst?!?!

I can't honestly say that I have.
If I can see that the person at least put some thought & effort into the gift, that's all that matters to me. (As long as it's not used.) I'm not concerned about what they spent & I won't ask.
