I think I can assist you.
The Schutlz Staffel "protection squad", consisted of three basic branches: The Sicherheitsdienst "Security Section" operated counterintelligence operations and performed other security matters. The Waffen SS, literally "Weapons SS", was the military arm that operated with the Wehrmacht. The "Allegmeine SS", General SS included doctors, administration, and concentration camp guards. Himmler would give out honorary commissions to Nazi VIPs, these were also in the Allegemeine SS. You might have heard about the bizarre archeology expeditions that the SS led. Yep, these guys were Allgemeine SS as well.

Himmler's plan was for the SS to become the new German aristocracy, or Teutonic Knights.

This Allgemeine or "General" SS was the political and administrative wing of the SS organization. The other was the Waffen-SS, which was composed of frontline combat fighting units.
The Allgemeine is the one responsible for all the persecution and murder. They dealt with local police matters and with "racial matters." (i.e. purifying Germany of non-Germans) The main component of the General SS was the "Reichssicherheitshauptamt" ("RSHA," Reich Security Central Office in German).
The RSHA itself was divided into four sub-groups, including the well-known Gestapo, headed by Heinrich Müller. The RSHA also dealt with foreign espionage and counterintelligence.
