My problem is...my life is boring. Everyone says write something about your life, though, I can't find anything to use there!

Read everything you can get your hands on. Even a single word can inspire you.
Listen to your favorite music.
Start Simple. My first story was little more then a description of a house and a family.
Use something to act it out, if need be. I will sometimes drag out DOLLS and use them for story ideas.
Write profiles for your characters. have them to drag out when you need them.
Check out writing message boards. Even something as simple as the writing message board on Neopets can be a good inspiration.
Keep a notebook with you whenever possible to jot down ideas and items of interest that you would like to remember.
Read and write poetry on occasion. It can really get you creative juices flowing.
Always keep your eyes open for a story idea.
Browse sites such as Fictionpress.com and Fanfiction.net. All people on these sites are aspiring writers as well, and it is a pretty good place to get feedback on stories.

Think up the craziest possble stting, idea or title. For example one I thought up was Confessions of a Caffinated Insomniac.
Another good way is to have a very small dictionary (or a childrens dictionary) and pick five random words. Think up a story that has all of those words put together.
If you are the type of person that neds a start before you can think up something look up the snyopis of som old, obscure poem, myth, legend, ballet, opera, or fairytale. Change the pretense of it and get going.
If you already hav a basic idea just start writing. You do not need to correct and rearrange you senteces or dioalouge. Just write something down, you can always chang it later.

or:
Read a book
Watch a movie
Listen to music, write a story about the situation in the song (country or classic rock works best)
Draw a picture

Instrumental music or any music without words is good. I once got an idea for an entire book from this one song on a movie soundtrack.
Also, if you have a good imagination, everyday scenerios can become a complex scene. I mean, I'm on a swim team, and we were doing push ups and running one day, and into my mind popped this scene of some army, or prison camp that my character had to escape from or something. I get inspiration from everywhere.
If you have any scene at all in mind, write it down. You may get ideas just from seeing it on paper, and going with the flow. It doesn't matter if it's the first scene or not. I rarely ever start with the opening scene, because it's the hardest to write. It'll just come to you eventually.
From one writer to another, i wish you good luck!

relax and don't think "i have to find a topic... i have to find a topic". Let it come to you by letting your thoughts go where they want... family stuff, school stuff, friends stuff..

I'm not saying to put these in a story, but you could model a story off some memory that you have. Add stuff to it that never happened, like a family trip to someplace (real memory) and you go places or do things (story part) like you get into some mischief.

Here's another idea - you see people that are talking (real) and you build up some crazy story around those people about who they are and what they are doing in your town.

My father would do this in restaurants - he'd say to me that couple over there just got married and they stopped in here to eat. They're from (whereever) and have a big farm, but he is here looking for work........ He would go thru this entire story as if he knew the people, but the only true thing about them is that they were eating in the same restaurant at the same time we were.

Let your imagination run wild.

I recommend using a book of writing prompts like A Writer's Book of Days: A Spirited Companion and Lively Muse for the Writing Life by Judy Reeves.

I do one every morning. Sometimes they help me create an idea that I can turn into a story, sometimes they do not. But they always get my creative juices flowing.

Don't worry just keep thinking and an idea will pop up. What I do when writing a story is I base it on something I really like or know a lot about, like when I wrote a fictional book about a rock band. Or, I make my stories more personal by converting one of my own experiences into a story ( example: when I was chased by a pitbull).

If you keep a journal read through it and find something you remember well enough that had at least a slight impact on you and then just start writing. I used to get writers block all the time and I'd just sit at my desk trying to think of something to write( which wasn't a good system), until one of my teachers told me to just write down anything that comes to mind. It doesn't even have to be related to anything, it just helps to get your pen/pencil moving. I know it sounds kind of dumb but trust me! It really works. Good Luck!

My trick is to write and write and write and don't stop for 15 minutes. Do not edit any of your sentences (spelling is OK but not the general structure or the contents). Then, go back, read it over, see what you got, and take the good stuff and put it into a story.

One night get all dressed up in clothes you would not be caught dead in and wear make up that makes drag queens look natural and tease your hair so much it's out of control then go out to Wal-Mart or McDonalds or some place public but not some place you would so embarassed about like the mall. Then come home and write about how it felt to do something that weird and how people reacted.
