I think we're there already. It's like it's a bad thing to have things that are practical like an economy car or t-shirts from Target or Walmart. Everyone feels the need to try to impress other's with their great taste in labels. Just recently I got fed up with the clutter in my house. I bought moving boxes and put at least two in every room. I asked everyone to place in the box anything that they weren't going to wear or use, or hadn't worn or used for a year. My own closet was so packed full of crap it took the two full boxes just for that! Other boxes were filled with excess tolietries and towels/blankets, old raggedy pots and pans, decorations that were only collecting dust. That experience was very freeing, because afterwards I actually liked the look of "pared down." I think everyone should look around and recycle the crap they're not using and donate to someone who can use it.

I don't really know wht you mean by materialistic but I have an idea. Some boys and most Girls are really drama queens, we're always worrying if we weigh too much or what we should eat or what people think of us, but alot of these things are what we shouldn't worry about. This is totally a bad answer not the best !!!

Have you heard of a book called Affluenza and also a book called Your money or Your life. All the explanations are there for you. You will learn about what materialism is and what people are doing about it. I loved the books and I always look for more books like those.

There certainly is a lot of consumption going on in the world and so much of it inefficiently.

Value time with people over time with things.

Most definitely YES...I just think back on how things have changed in the last 20 years and it blows my mind. It seems like people are jumping way over there heads in debt to keep up with what we perceive as normal. I feel like my home is simple compared to the average American home, and I look around....3 computers on line...A 57 inch wide screen in the family room...tv's in every bedroom, plus the office where I am sitting at the moment...cell phones on everyones hip...and this isn't even considered extravigent these days! My one saving grace....I purchased my home 20 years ago as well....when they didn't involve several hundred thousand dollar mortgages....and it is paid off!

Yes!

It is only going to get worse as the day of Jesus' return draws increasingly near.

Stuff stuff and more stuff doesn't satisfy. It only temporarily quiets a screaming soul as we try to fit things into a God shaped hole. And then once the "new" wears off, we try something "bigger and better" only to find it doesn't work either. Then as time passes, we find that the stuff has gotten more and more elaborate and wicked. Deep down inside all we really need is a relationship with our creator.

So to answer once again I must say YES!
