I've never owned one but have used one. Chances are the motor shaft has either a key-way (with key having worked loose and fallen out) or a flat area on the shaft for a set screw to tighten down on. Both should be relatively easy to fix. Check with a Toro Dealer and ask to look at a parts manual breakdown before taking it apart to know which item you may need.

I admit to not owning one nor ever having used one but one time. Have never taken one apart but it sure sounds like a BELT broke and if no belt than a gear malfunction, but hope it is a belt since that would be cheaper! Good luck!
