Should cell phones be banned from school? Why?

I think they should be because they cause disruptions in classrooms, they cause students to not focus on school work, and they are a major issue when stolen.especially in high schools.

I agree they should be kept in the locker till after school hours. I am a teacher myself so I know the stress we teachers have with students using phones in the classroom.

No because some kids have to walk home or ride the bus, etc. What if there is an emergency? Anything can happen. If I was a teacher, I would much rather get disrupted than have a child abducted and not be able to call anyone. On the other hand, if they are brought to school, cell phones should be kept on silent and taken away if they are not in order to increase discipline regarding their usage in the classroom.

YES cell phones should be banned in schools. What did people do before cell phones???? We survived!!!!!!! I have a cell phone myself but I also know when to use them and when not. Like while driving is a NO NO. People do that all the time. I just don't get it. I wish cell phones were never made!!

At my school, they are not banned but they have to be turned off. If a student uses a phone or it rings during class, the teacher (me) can take it away and the parent has to come in to get it.

Phones have no business in the classroom, but they are important so they should stay off and put in the lockers.

I am just going to have to say I disagree with you because if a student is left at school they are going to need to contact their parents.

Did you know that if there is a "real"bomb threat that using a cell phone could set off a bomb?
