How do you treat a cow that is bloated?

I have a sick cow.

If it isn't too bad stand him on a hill with his head up towards the top. Better to get his front two feet up on a hay bale or on the second or third step on a flight of stairs with his head tied or held up. It helps the air/gas go up and out. Good luck and if he gets better watch what you're feeding him because that is what is likily causing it. Two much straw, hay, or greens, too fast or too often. Call a vet if you think it's really bad. You can lose him within hours. If you need me to explain better feel free to im me or email me. Good luck with him.

I once had a baby goat who bloated. An old farmer told me they used to stick bloated cows with a knife. I stuck the goat with a large hyperdermic needle and released the gas. I did that twice a day for a couple of days then finally took her to a vet. The vet said I had done the right thing. She also said to give her pepto bismol. She might have given her antibiotics, I don't remember. She survived.
I have a little more money now. I'd go to the vet first. Especially with something as valuable as a cow.

stomach tube to let out the gas-If you don't know how to insert one- you need to call a vet. Cows usually get bloated from being overweight and lying down on their side for too long.
If it is already bloated and has been for a while- it may be too late and you may just need to kill it and make some hamburgers.

you really need to call your vet out. as cows have 4 stomachs and can easily pass gas, but when they become bloated it can be bad and very painful. call your vet ASAP
