the lowest common denominator is 9 (both 3 & 9 will divide into it) so you multiply the first fraction ( the top number "numerator" and the bottom number "denominator")by 3, leave the 2nd fraction alone as it is already expressed as "ninths"
2/3-2/9 = 6/9-2/9 =4/9
