Just a note for ripgirl's suggestion of Fossil Rim... It's not actually in the city of Fort Worth, but 1- 1 1/2 hours away near Stephenville. It is cool, but not convenient to the city.
Agree with Billy Bob's & the Stockyards. Sundance Square is great, good restaurants & bars. Try the Flying Saucer for a fun place to grab a beer. See a show at Bass Hall: It's amazing. Lots of good museums, especially the Kimbell. Permanent exhibits at the Kimbell are free. Special exhibits cost $. For a nice dinner, try Reata near Sundance.
Good luck!

Cowgirl Hall of Fame! It is a new, state of the art museum that goes through different aspects of cowgirl life. It includes exhibits on the rodeo, real working cowgirls, and "cowgirls" in the entertainment industry. Great for kids and adults alike.

Ok, I used to live in Dallas, and my favorite place to go with my family was the Fossil Rim wild animal park. It's really cool, you stay in your car and drive through it. The animals are all running wild and you can buy buckets of food and feed them. It's really cool. The giraffes even stick their heads in your car and eat straight from the bucket. But watch out for the ostriches. They can be viscious. We would just roll the window down a little bit, throw the food out and drive.
But you should really try it. It's a lot of fun for all ages.

I would consider a membership at the Kimbell. it is not very expensive, I am told, and they seem to have a frequent number of art connected social gatherings at the museum.
