How can we as a society sit back and let the government not do anything about the miniscul sentencing of paedophiles . Its is that we are all so wrapped in our own lifes and are only bothered whilst it there in the paper or on the tv and when its gone our enthusiasm for change diminishes ?????????

I think the sentences are disgraceful , sometimes I wonder if some of the judges are involved in this type of behaviour because they are so lenient.

Before they go to prison they should be left alone in a room for 30 minutes with the mother and aunts of the child they have abused.
I think they might be lacking the necessary equipment to repeat their crimes on their release from jail.

I would name and shame all judges who do not give out maxim sentences to paedophiles.Also they should be called in front of a panel and asked why they did not use the full letter of the law.If their reasons are not satisfactory their sentence should be overruled and maxim sentence put in place.The law should be on the side of the child,not the paedo,as it seems to be now.Sometimes you get a worse sentence for speeding in your car.

Sooner they let them out the sooner the real punishment can start, being forced to keep moving house as they are identfied by local parents is a good start.

It's because we as a society are too apathetic to the things that go on around us. We don't want to believe that these things are happening in our own backyard.
If we find out that they are, then we have to deal with them appropriately. Isn't this what we are supposed to do?

It shows the small value we place on protecting our children. I'm afraid soome parents will start taking the law into their own hands if our governments don't act.

life imprisonment, without the chance of parole should be the only punishment inflicted on a convicted pedophile. you can take the pedophile out of contact with children, but you can't take the urge out of the pedophile, no matter what!

Paedophiles, where it has been proven beyond a doubt (DNA etc), should be put to sleep for good.

the sentences are pitiful. I think that we should be allowed to spend 30 minutes with them - while the police turn their backs....

i agree its not right they need locking up, most of them cant help themselves and will only do it again. i think they only get short sentences because its more of a mental thing....... even so it should be punished severely!
