Have had a pleco for about 2 years. 3 weeks ago, he stopped eating anything (no algae wafers, no zuccinni, no fish food) at all and is losing color and stomach is sinking in. Other fish are all fine. Water tested fine (took it to aquarium store) as well. What would suddenly cause this?

What size tank is he in? Plecos are BIG fish, 18"-24", some of them. If you have a common pleco, he ought to be in a 75+ gallon tank. If he is in a small tank, that could be a cause.

Do you have driftwood in the tank? Some plecos feed off driftwood... but they should still eat other foods, too.

That's a hard question. I've never had problems with my "Rex" *knocks on wood.* Have you suddenly switched any chemicals or food products or lighting? Check your thermometer if you have a mercury one as if it's broken and leaking, that could be a very good cause of it. Maybe even there's enough algea that you can't see on the glass that he doesn't need to eat anything you put in there. That's happened with my tank.

Im helpful its no longer "dropping its suction" They detach while they're performed ingesting or are bored or experience like shifting to a diverse area of the tank. If its falling off after which swimming away or resting on its abdomen on the backside, i could say its very well-known, pending that your tank is nicely primary and has a nicely primary nitrogen cycle. If hes falling off and floating, or laying the incorrect way up or something then it is reason for alarm.

He might have eaten something weird. Put him/her in a quarentine tank and treat the water with FungusClear. The pleco's a bit old... his days just might be up also.
