1) Look at the differences:

(-5, -7) and (-3, -10)

Going from -5 to -3 means add 2. Going from -7 to -10 means subtract 3.

(-3, -10) and (-1, -13)

Going from -3 to -1 means add 2. Going from -10 to -13 means subtract 3.

It's the same in both cases, so that means when you add 2 to the x, you subtract 3 from the y.

Now: what you report as the "rule" depends on what your teacher wants. What I have written there is a way of doing it. Another way would be to report the slope - the rise over the run - as -3/2. A third way would be to develop an equation that gives y as a function of x. Since we know the slope, we know it'll be of the form

y = (-3/2) x + b

To find b, we pick one point and plug it in:

-7 = (-3/2)(-5) + b

-7 = 15/2 + b

b = -7 - 15/2 = -29/2

So the equation would be

y = (-3/2)x - 29/2

which you can check to see that it gives you the other two points. So - pick the one your teacher wants. If it's the last, be aware that he/she may want you to reduce the 29/2.

2) How is this a math question? Just Google it.

This is not a linear function . A linear function would be of the form y = mx + b, with m and b constant. You can find the slope (m) between any two points on it, and get -3/2, but when you try to find the y intercept (b) you get different results depednign on which point you pick. For example, when I worked out the point (-5,-7) I got b = 1/2 but when I worked out the point (-3, -10) I got b = -29/2. Try graphing these points and see what they look like.
However, i can see the rule to this function. Your x's are increasing by 2 and your y's are decreasing by 3. So the next few values in the table would be (1, -16), (3, -19), etc. Hope this helps.

For the largest river in the world, try googling rivers (lengths) and you'll get a comparison. It would most likely be either the Amazon or the Nile, look it up and find out for sure.

f(x)= -3/2x - 1

Amazon River
Largest as in "Most Water Output"

Nile River
Longest.
