Viruses and Spyware probably run rampant through your system. Consider downloading the following applications:
AdAware SE Personal - www.lavasoft.de
SpyBot Search and Destory - www.safer-networking.org
After you install and update them, reboot into Safe Mode and scan your system for infestations.

get norton security and antivirus 2006 or 2007 install do a scan make sure theres no viruses got windows optermizer platinum 3 this is a really good program and easy to use the best thing it u cannot hame your com with it no mater what u do it will let u turn of unesaserey programs turn of programs on startup defrag your hard drive wich is the most common reason for a com to run slow press one click optermisation it will delete any empty folder and bad files from com this is all u need to keep com running good please note if u dont have more than 512 memory norton will make com run slow get these programs and your com will get better hope i help

Download some Adware. It also helps if you delet some of the stuff you don't longer need. Like pictures old files that kind of stuff. I couldn't even belive how much stuff I didn't need that I had saved up there. Once I deleted them all off my computer everything ran faster. Hope that helps :P

You can do two things Install extra ram memory to your computer which is kind of cheap just take your computer to bestbuy and let them know you need more memory they will be able to tell you what kind of memory you need like ddr sdr or ddr2. then get a good antivirus free of course www.grisoft.com and get a anti spyware go to www.download.com and get spyware doctor it sweeps virus

download glary utilities,delete the contents in c:\windows\prefetch and clear the history of system restore go to my computer right click properties,system restore,check turn off system restore then apply (this will delete all old system restore space)then activate it by checking it again and press ok, there are good utilities included in glary utilities like registry cleaner,track eraser,internet explorer assistant(for unwanted toolbars,spyware,)file shredder(permantlly delete files so they are unrecoverable) uninstall manager(clear or uninstall corrupt installs)startup manager,

i suggest you to reformat your system, but before you do that have a back-up of all your important files and make sure have your installation cd's of your driver's.
formatting makes your system refresh, and accelerate the performance of your pc,
after that, try to download some of the trusted sofwares suggested by the persons who answered your question. in this manner you can maintain good performance of your pc.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER TRY CLEARING YOUR FOLDERS IF THAT DOSEN'T WORK THEN YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW MEMORY OR HARD DRIVE
