How Do I Take Firewall Off My Limewire?

I Wanna Use My IP To send My IP To another Person soo that we can Limewire Chat.. And We Both have Firewall Please Tell Me How To Take Firewall Off.?

Find the settings of your firewall and allow all cookies for limewire.

It depends on which firewall you have.

If it's Window's Firewall:

Go to START and click Control Panel. Find Windows Firewall and double-click. Click the Tab that says "Exceptions". Find Limewire on the list and make sure you have it selected. Click OK.

If it's any other program like Norton, Mcafee, or ZoneAlarm, go to their sites and find the program documentation or find the help file in each program.

The programs usually ask you if you want to allow this program to communicate with the Internet, or something along those lines. If you do for Limewire make sure you ALLOW the connection.

Oh I really never used Limewire chat.
But you have to go into your firewall and go click on anything like program permissions or something like that and if it is blocked put it as unblocked or accepted. You can also just turn off the firewall by disabling. You must be on adminastrator account not a limited account or else it will not allow you to disable the firewall.

Go to Start -> All Programs ->Accessories -> System Tools -> Security Centre.
At the dialog box that apperas, click on "Windows Firewall" under "Manage Security Settings for".
At the dialig box that appears, click on the "Exceptions" Tab. Click against Limewire to check the check box.
Now when Limewire is running, the Windows Firewall will not block it.

I dont knwo if taking off your firewall on limewire is the greatest idea. Limewire is very unsafe. Lots of hackers and stuff. If you want to chat. use AIM or Yahoo or....a telephone.!!!

This depends on what firewall you are using. If you are using a router, you need to set up a port forward for whatever port the chat goes on, to whatever your local IP is.

i would advise against turning off your firewall
best bet is to allow access to limewire thru your pc, depending on which firewall you have its usually in advanced or setting somewhere

In Windows XP:

Start > Control Panel > Network Connections

Right click on the "Local Area Connections", click Properties

Advanced Tab > click "Settings..." under Firewall

Click "Off (not recommended)" and press OK.

just turn off the windows firewall and it will automatically disable the lime-wire firewall
