The official ship date for the Gamecube Version is December 11th, 2006. Most stores put the game out December 12th. Word is that the Gamecube version is in very, very limited supply (one or two shipments).
Nintendo mostly wants people to buy the Wii version since it's the new system, but since people have been waiting for the Gamecube version for so long, they decided to do a limited release for the Gamecube as well.
Most stores I've been too are sold out already, especially stores online. Ebay prices for the game are upwards of $70 right now.

don't forget that there are many stores that people don't usually go to for video games - like sears. i know that my store still has 12 copies of the game as of closing time on 12/13/6
