Of course it's spelled differently. It's a different word. These anagram comparisons are ridiculous. Angel is angle spelled differently. Does that mean angels come from triangles?

It looks to me like you cheated and borrowed someone else's question but added an additional sentence to it. You did not hear it, you saw it. Caramia's question is still open too.
Are you prejudice? Santa was anglicized from the Spanish word for saint which is "santo". Santa Claus is derived from Saint Nicholaus. He was known to care about impoverished children. These were back in the times when there was no welfare, no foodbanks, no human rights standards (no minimum wage), no birthcontrol/contraceptives, etc. Employers never paid their workers enough to support large families as was the norm in those days. While many rich persons did not care about the peasants and yes...even many clergymen did not care as much about their parishoners as they should have, this man remembered his calling. I can see why he was awarded sainthood. How many people do you know in today's time that go out onto the streets and into impoverished homes to help the less fortunate??? The commercialization of the season may not be nice but that is no excuse to speak ill of the person nor to berate other country's languages.

Criminy...what next?! People can twist words any way that they want to create new words...it's cuz we only have 26 letters in the alphabet. It's amazing what people do anymore with anything. The Pledge of Allegiance, prayer in school, and now santa is satan....People need to lighten up on the political correctness on things and enjoy everything for what it is....

Some people do their very best to spoil good things for others. These people, usually called Rabid Christians or Extremist Muslims or some other group of religious fanatics so miserable that their only purpose is to ruin everything for everyone else. The play on words did make a neat scifi story, though.

Yes, I've heard that. I think it's ridiculous. You could rearrange the letters of a lot of words & come up with something "evil". It's nothing more than coincidence, but some people will use it to find fault with something they don't like. Most Christians don't even buy into this theory.

Well, its worth some think time. Santa=Christmas....Easter Bunny=Resurrection Day.
Most (not all) Christians think of Santa at Christmas, and the Easter Bunny at Easter. Maybe there is something to it.

Remember Gene Autry's advice in "here comes santa claus":

Let's all pray to the Lord above, 'cause Santa Claus comes tonight.
