It's the type of music, kind of like arabic/lebonese techno/dance music. A good example would be Sting and Desert Rose, or Alachi Taadi the song from the first chase scene in The Fifth Element. Thanks

i cant really understand what u wanna ask cause i dont think desert rose has anything to do with techno or dance, but i'll tell u the different types of arabic music.
here in the arab world we call music genres just like u do in the west for example slow music is called "slow" but the traditional arabic music that belly dancers use to dance on, is called "balady" with lots of drums u know.
nowadays egyptians and lebanese make music inspired by the west a bit, specialy dance music, its more or less like western dance music but accompanied by some arabian instruments.
if u specificaly wanna now about desert rose, the guy who sang with sting is called "cheb mami" he is algerian and that type of music is called "rai".
if u need to browse for traditional arabic music maybe u should write "arabian".

Actually, I've continually desired to name a band "Haile Saladdie" (Haile, finally, was once no longer a lassie). I suspect we would become doing Kristin Hersh-esque mixes of darkish and euphoric lyrics with the airy characteristics of the Cocteau Twins.
