I think man will be the downfall of man.
Technology has been in use since the dawn of mankind (thinking wheel and fire). It is no more than a tool.
It is all in how we decide to use our tools, more likely technology will allow us to continue to exist, if we use it correctly.

Technology will reinvent society, and will probably be the downfall of Western religions, as ignorance is replaced with greater understanding of the way things work.
Eastern philosphy, not so burdened with divine explanations that can be countered by science, will eventually prevail.
There are people who will believe anything; so there will always be a segment of the population that hang on to divine explanations for things, but their minority will continue to dwindle.

Nope -- technology is completely neutral.
It's how we use it that matters.
If there is to be a "downfall" of humans (not "man"), it will be because some religious nut gets ahold of technology (nukes) and his country can't control him, and he'll blast everybody who doesn't believe as he does.
That's been the cause of the vast majority of war in history...

Only if we continue what we are doing now.
Technology will soon make lower class jobs obsolete.
Technology will force all students to stay in school for longer to be able to live in the high-tec world.
Technology will get rid of any small jobs and make capitalism fail miserbly.
