Just ignore her wittering, and concentrate on the film. It works for the rest of us lol Just make sure you listen to her tone of voice with one ear, and say yes and no at appropriate intervals.
PS if you follow the advice of the (obviously single) person above and 'just tell her', make sure you're either (a) behind the sofa or (b) wearing a tin hat. And don't forget to duck.

Talk to her. Sound stupid? Seriously. She might just think she's not being heard. So she will happily keep on until she is heard. Again, communication is key. Talk with her honestly about it. Be open and be ready to hear her side. Make time for these conversations and then when you are watching a film you can nicely say to her "Honey, I started watching a film. Would you like to watch it with me and we can talk about this afterwords." Marriage IS communication. Nothing more. The more the two of you communicate about what goes on in your head the better off you will be. If all this just sounds like junk you have tried then perhaps it time for the old counseling. If your tired of listening to her and she talks all the time it wont get better by ignoring it. ;)

First purchase a GAG for Christmas.
No just kidding, my advice is the following:
Leave the room when it gets to much, In a Discreet manner.
Try to ask a question you know she can give a short answer to.
as for her talking over the film, I don't mean it nastily but if she can't show her Manners by keeping the noise down turn the t.v up and if she says any-thing tell her your trying to watch the telly.

It's been a common problem over the ages- Why do you think men have sheds and studies?
Some top tips;
Go to the GP and ask if you can have her vocal cords removed as they are affecting you health.
Or you could just tell her she's getting fat and buy a stepping machine for the spare room ( a portable TV would help too..)
Actually, if you have no kids then just keep turning up the telly and smiling a lot.

Women never shut up- FACT
I only do it when there is an awkward silence and I am trying to make myself feel better. When I am angry I don't talk much.
Just make her angry and she won't bother. My sister talks endlessly the only way to avoid her is to start an argument with her and I won't have to talk to her for days.
Don't try that, you may end up not talking to her ever- you'll get a nice English divorce. Just explain that you want to watch the film. Ask her how she would feel if you talked over some silly chat show or soap? Actually do it to her see how she feels. She will soon stop.

If it's 'talking over the film you are watching,' then it would be a good idea to simply ask her to 'wait until there is a break or it has ended' (unless the house is on fire, of course). Otherwise, try listening to all that she has to say and then tell her about what you have hears her ay (paraphrase it) and then ask her 'What is it that you are really trying to say?'
Some people take three (or more) times more than is really needed to say it.
Don't be a critic, but explain your 'feelings' about what you are hearing and the outcome of what she's saying.
Sash.

I don't know.... It would drive me nuts! Luckily, both my husband and I like to keep to ourselves much of the time. An obvious solution would be to ask her to wait til the end of the movie, but I'm sure the "talking too much" is not limited to movie times. I can totally understand that one would want to enjoy silence every once in a while. I think, some guys learn to ignore it, as if it was a fly buzzing in their ear.

The best thing you can do is try to listen!
It may not be the fact that she talks to much that bores you it may be what she talks about!
Try to change the subject, or just turn her attention to something else. Pay attention to what she talks about and maybe next time you will know how to respond or to end the conversation!

Fake a seizure. Let off a big fart. Anything. Faint. Say you don't feel well and go to bed. Feign a coma. Tell her there's a spider in the room. Ask her to go next door and write a list, ANY list.

It is common, women talking just to hear themselves talk. Find time way from her, let her get with her women friends. But when there is no way around her, for the timel, deal with it. Breathe....join the club
