My husband stopped smoking about five years ago using patches, he had terrible nightmares, put on six stone in weight but at least he is a non-smoker now.

I gave up smoking 20 years ago and was smoking at least 20 a day . How did I give up ? I was about to travel round the world for a year with a non smoking friend and at the airport I had to decide to buy or not to buy my duty frees , I decided I would have more money to spend on travels if I gave up and also it seemed unfair to smoke so much with my non smoker companion . What I'm trying to say is you have to really make the decision to give up for whatever reason , health , money , etc but you need to have something to replace it , like something you really want to do . For me it was travelling for a year around the world . Can I give you a tip about the patches . They are really dangerous to children and pets . Last week my daughters dog found one of her used patches which had fallen out of the bin and he chewed it . He became very ill and had to have his stomach pumped and put on a drip . He had nicotine poisoning from chewing the patch . He could have died if they hadnt taken him to the vet . Good luck with your efforts .

Hey! I put my patch on yesterday at 4pm and its still going strong and no fags! Only twice today I suddenly had an urge for one, but that was because I was having a cup of tea and Always used to have one at that time with tea, so i changed it to a cold drink. worked.
I suggest you put the patch on just before going to bed tonight, then when you wake up any urges will have gone. I put my patch on at 4pm because I had run out of ciggies and didnt want to buy another pack knowing i was about to give up!
Be strong!

Hope the patches work for you better than they did for me, I was wearing the patches and smoking I had the most realistic nightmares that you could imagine, sad to say i'm still smoking .
