hitler used the jews as a scapegoat. in his propaganda speechs both before and while he had power, he claimed that the reason that germany was having such hard economic and social problems was because of the jews. he created hatred within his nation.

hiter, insane or not decided that the best way to "solve" this problem was to take their jobs, and the possession, and eventually their homes and their rights...but them in working camps,...and then came Auschwitz (death camp)

Anti-semitism has existed for millenia, if all accounts are to be believed. Persecution of Jews is a particularly sensitive issue because it is not only an ethnic issue, but a religious one. Hitler claimed to be Christian, and even used this as one reason to justify the genocide; that he actually was a Christian is in doubt, not only because teachings of Christ and orthodox Christianity contradict this mass killing, but because if Hitler had looked closely enough he would've seen that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was himself a Jew. It is more likely that Hitler simply had an implanted prejudice directed towards Jews, just as many people today have unaccountable aversions to people of different ethnicities and religions. (Forget the obvious examples of the genocide currently happening in Darfur--what about the race jokes about how certain ethnic groups are lazy, or eat only certain foods, or are unintelligent, or...?) The ugly racism and prejudice that prompted Hitler is still alive today, though perhaps its focus has shifted.

Also, from a sociological standpoint--Jews were a minority, but some of them were quite wealthy. It is likely that this economic angle had a large role in Hitler's choice to target this ethnic group.

There are many, many other parts of the puzzle, and too little space here to do them justice. Also, I am no expert on the subject. If your desire to know more about the issue is genuine, I would suggest finding a book or some journal articles that will give you a broader perspective. What you find out can only add to a rich background and well-roundedness that is always healthy.

Germany had the whole entire debt put on their shoulders from WW1, which was called the treaty of vercllance(sp?) . Anyway They had to repay a whole lot of money that they did not have. The great depression was happening around the world and employment rates were way low. Germany was creating to much money and their whole econmy was going down. so pretty much hitler came into germany and told the people I'll help germany become mighty and strong again.. and help you get your jobs and money back.. and germans were like SWWEETT... so hitler did actually rise the employment rates... but he did this by using the jewish (and other minorites IE gyspies and stuff) as a scape goat.. he basically told all of germany it was their fault. .and the people in germany were so so desperate to blame someone they accepted the jews (who have always been discriminated againts anyway) to be the problem of germany... many Nazi's we're in WW1 and didnt mind blaming the jews either.

Hitler was the product of close cousins marrying. His Grandfather was Jewish, I think it was his fathers side. His father beat him growing up and he hated him. So much so that.....

"During his lifetime, Hitler was very secretive about his background. Only the dimmest outline of his parents emerges from the biographical chapters of Mein Kampf. He falsified his father's occupation, changing him from a customs official to a postal official. He repulsed relatives who tried to approach him. One of the first things he did after taking over Austria was to have a survey carried out of the little farming village of Dollerscheim where his father's birth had been recorded. As soon as it could be arranged the inhabitants were evacuated and the entire village was demolished by heavy artillery. Even the graves in the cemetery where his grandmother had been buried were rendered unrecognisable."

A very good site is listed in the source below.

he needed a scapegoat.. jews where blamed for everything that was wrong in Germany, even the world, poverty, hunger, wars.. you name it.. (this is all in hitler's book, Mein Kampf.. which I do not have the stomach to read...)
But nazis did not inven this... even centuries before that there were antisemitic ideas and movements. Lets not forget the inquisition, just to name one..
