I don't have much interest in politics, and even though I watch the news a few times a week, I haven't heard of him! This is a name I'd like to know more about, though. I like to be up to speed for conversations. What should I know about him? Why is he so popular? He's a potential presidential candidate even though he hasn't really held a high office for long? Am I hearing right? Giving Hilary a run for her money as Dem. candidate? Who do you think will be on the ballot for Dems in 08? I think this will be one of the more exciting elections, that's for sure! Thanks for your time and opinions! I'll pick a best answer.

I wouldn't have posted this question if I wanted to go do research. You're welcome for the 2 points.

Answer #1, perhaps you are missing what Y! Answers is all about. I believe you think it's a way to educate someone on the use of a search engine. Your other answers are even less profound. If God came to your door, you'd ask if he missed the "No Solicitors" sign? You are definitely not an asset to Y! Answers. Your best answer % is evidence of this. Try answering questions that you actually know something about and the first 5 words that pop in your head probably aren't good enough either. Good answers are a novel idea and they can actually help someone! Here I am educating YOU when I am the one that used 5 pts to get an answer. That's what Y! Answers is really about. I hope you get that now.

You should know that he will be in the running for the Democratic Nomination along with Dennis Kucinich, and a bunch of other--don't have a chance Democrats. He's Harvard educated, top of his class, serving his first term in the Senate from Illinois. What makes him so contagious is his prolific, graceful oration, and no nonsense introspective commentary on the issues.

He is a first term junior senator from the state of Illinois. The reason he is so popular is because he has done nothing but campaign for the presidency since he gained office instead of performig his Congressional duties. He is a young, energetic, good looking guy that speaks on no issues. He just says the things that people want to hear. What are his policies? What are his accomplishments? Looks like another slick politician.

Barack is very popular He most likely run in 2008.I think he would be a great president except he does not have enough experience. If he wins he would be the first black president.Of course you know that.I think he would win but it would be because of his personalty.I look for Hillery to run with Barack as vice president. The democrats scare the hell out of me.For one thing not only will they not build the needed fence,I wouldn't be at all surprised if they build a lot of bridges.

well... to be frank... he's a younger guy... doesn't have a lot of experience in Washington (served as a state senator and a national senator so far in Illinois)... but, the way Washington has been going the past few years, I don't know if I'm that keen on someone that is a Washington insider... new blood may be a good thing...
but, from the legislation he's supported so far and from what he's said, he seems to have a level head on his shoulders, which seems to be hard to find in Washington... he seems to be common (he introduced the Monday Night Football game the other night) but at the same time, he seems to think before he speaks and knows what he's talking about... and if he doesn't, know he'll tell you he doesn't know...
if you're curious about how he's voted and what he's supported in his short career, check this out, it goes over it pretty well

Longer term he has potential. I hope he waits a little. Far more qualified EVEN NOW than Dictator Dumbya could EVER DREAM to be, and more brains in a single fingernail than Dumbya. I'm just hoping for the first HONEST election since 1996. Can it REALLY happen?

He seems to be intelligent and dynamic. Hillary is probably a lot less fun. He'll give her a run for my money, but I think I would place my bet on Hillary (if I were a betting person).
As for who would be the best president, I have no idea.
I wonder if the USA is ready for a black president yet? A woman president would already be a novelty, but I think it will fly.

He is black socialist being pushed by the leftist and liberals in America. One, to humiliate, and two, to DESTROY America.
He is not qualifed to lead this country as President as his political record (if any) will show. His voting record chides him as a liberal despite what he says.
He is being teamed up with another socialist, the female socialist known as Hillary Clinton. The wife of the lascivious and some say traitorous, 41st president of the USA, who was caught with his pants down in the Oval Office.

He is very articulate & very attractive. He is also very Liberal.
Oprah says he is her canidate. Hillary is definitely on the ropes with him. Being the first black canidate & so likeable makes him a viable canidate. I found him funny in every interview plus his skit on Monday Night Football was a scream.
I am very conservative but if I crossed to an extremely liberal canidate, it would be him not Hillary.
Lots of interviews you can read on internet.
