Top Nintendo Character of All Time?

Now, I know that there are other questions dealing with the top video game character over all platforms. But this one is strictly Nintendo. Tell me which Nintendo character (doesn't matter if it's good or evil) is one to remember and why. I want to hear what you got.

I'd say thta the top nintendo character of all time would HAVE to be between Mario or Link from Zelda. The reason for that being that these too series have been flagship games for the nintendo systems spanning all the way back to when they first showed up on the NES and SNES systems and from the time they showed up they have always appeared on each new system showing that compared to many othrer games, these game characters represent nintendo enough to be launch titles.

I'm leaning more towards Mario as the top Nintendo character of all time just because he's been there through it all, and if you ask people who don't know much about games, they probably still know who mario is. He's been popular enought to have a movie and series and show up all over the place in hundreds of game titles and is a character that has been appealing to all age levels for decades.

I'd personally say I would like to think Link is sthe top character of all time just due to the fact that I like the Zelda series alot and that it's one of the flagship nintendo series that probably entices more people into nintendo in terms of age and interest levels then mario and seeing as that the Twilight Princess Zelda game was the flagship launch title for the Wii, and Mario not even showing up yet as a release title the first few months of the Wii's release, tells me that Zelda and Link have alot more power right now in gamers mind's then Mario right now with the new systems. So it could be said that the overall top character is Mario but in terms of recent and current, it's probably Link.

It's hard to choose between Samus, and Link

Link: What surprises me about him, is that so many people think his name is Zelda

Edit: The Legend of Zelda series has only been outsold by the Mario series. Also note the Mario series has more than twice the games as the Zelda series, AND Mario used to be bundled in with the Nintendo systems.

The greatest Nintendo character ever was Bubbles! Yes, Bubbles, the main character in Clu-Clu Land. What makes Bubbles so cool? Let me count the ways--

First, nobody knows if Bubbles is a boy or a girl. Heck, Bubbles may not even know. That means that whenever you're playing the game, he/she can be whichever gender you want. Changing his/her sex twenty times a day, just for the fans - talk about a user-friendly character!

Second, our androgynous hero/ine is fabulously wealthy. While Mario's adding one measly coin at a time to his bank account and Link's out gathering rupees that ain't worth a plug nickel outside of Hyrule, Bubbles spends all day collecting gold bars. Gold...a universal currency in any world from Zebes to Angel Land. A single gold bar is worth around $16,000 American dollars, and Bubbles is collecting dozens of them in every maze! Forget Link and Mario, our little hero/ine might be wealthier than Bill Gates!

Third, Bubbles is smart. The gold bars are always laid out in patterns and pictures. He has to be able to solve those puzzles to find all the gold, and solve them very quickly before she runs out of time. If Samus ever got into a puzzle-solving contest with our hero/ine, he'd whip her up one side of Norfair and down the other.

Fourth, Bubbles is tough. I mean really tough. He doesn't have a sword or a laser cannon to kill the bad guys with, and there ain't no invincibility stars or super mushrooms in Clu-Clu Land. If he wants to kill the bad guys, she has to use her head. Literally, by smashing them into the wall. And these aren't soft little mushrooms either, these are giant sea urchins full of sharp spines. Most of them are as big as Bubbles; the king urchin is so big it takes up half the screen, and Bubbles can still smash it and kill it! Let's see Mario headbutt a sea urchin that's five times his size and see how he comes out of it!

Fifth, Bubbles must be related to Soundwave, who was of course the coolest Decepticon ever! Like his distant cousin, Bubbles has the ability to emit powerful sonic vibrations that leave his enemies a stunned and quivering pile of jelly. Any fool can eat an enemy or stab it with a sword - but how many can neutralize an enemy without needing to use any weapons and without even physically *touching* it?

So there you have it. Bubbles *is* the ultimate Nintendo character: filthy rich, tough as nails, smart as a whip, uber-cool special ability, and always eager to please people. What more could you want?

The freakin' Princess from Mario 2! I always picked b/c she could levitate. My all time fave would have to be Link. I'm still a Zelda fan. Windwaker is the best!

YOSHI ..........He has got everything you need in a character. He can eat a mushroom and mario gets big???? He can eat turtle shells and spit fire, fly, ground stomp. AND, I dont know any other "good guy" character that kills its own kids (eggs) to smack the bad guys with! Plus, yoshi comes a varaity of colors. Like an iPod =)

And poor Yoshi, in reality, he is only used because it gives us and extra hit before you lose your cape. Quick! Catch him before he runs into that hole!
