I need some advice. About a month ago i started to get very heavy, clear discharge for about a week. Then around when my period was due to start i started having very light spotting. 3 weeks later, i am still spotting. It alternates between small amounts of light red blood with heavy discharge and also darker brown discharge. I only really see it when i go to wipe after urination. I have never had sex, so cannot be pregnant/miscarrying and am clear of STD's. i am also not on any oral contraception/not do i have an implant. Im 21 years old. My periods always last a long time (around 2 weeks), but they arent usually accompanied by such thick discharge and this is longer than ever. Has anyone experienced this? What happened???? please help :-)

The discharge in the middle of the period is usually a sign of ovulation. The long lasting period may be due to you not using tampons (tampons absorb close to the source, rather than having to wait for it to move out on it's own - if you see what I am saying). Have you been under an unusual amount of stress this month? Stress, poor diet and hormones can all have an effect on your period. If you are not stressed out and are eating healthily then you might want to consult a health care professional for more information. You might also get some info from www.WebMD.com or some such.

Peace!

Have you considered and Endometrial Ablation? Its a process by which the lining of the uterus is removed/destroyed, usually by burning- sound awful? Its not really, many doctors are doing this procedure in office now. I had it done more than a year ago, I went in at 09 am (I chose to sleep through procedure) was home by 11, had bad cramps for 1 day, and went back to work the next- End result? No period ever again, and it did not mess with my hormones-I will still go through menopause normally when the time comes.I also had a great reduction in PMS symptoms and cramping. Not everyone no longer has no periods, about 50% I think and another 40% have short light periods, and for 10% it dosent work at all(nothings perfect!) This procedure is permanent, you cannot carry a child after it is done, as the uterus can no longer support a fetus. Best thing I have ever done- its given me back my life!

I also have loooong periods since I first started my period. I am 24 years old. My periods lasts about 2 weeks. The first three days are very heavy and painful, after the three days, I'll have dark brown discharge for the rest of those days, which is about 7-10 days. People say that my periods last too long, so I should see a doctor about it. I went to three different doctors, and they all told me that was normal. You should go see a doctor and talk to them about it and see what they say.

You need to see a doctor, for one you should of been having your annual exam starting when you were 18. Periods should never last 2 weeks. I would make an appointment and ask to get on birth control pills it will lighten your period and shorten it to around 4-5 days.

Go to a GYN!!!!
I have endometriosis and sometimes the symptoms can be like that for people. And don't think you are too young. If you want kids later, it's best to check now. Birth control can help tremendously with irregular periods like that!
Good luck!

You need to see your dr or a gynocologist. Having periods that last for 2 weeks is abnormaly long and it may be you just need to go on birth control pills to help regulate it.
