I bought my son (he's 5) a Playstation 1 (didn't want anything expensive he could break). When playing some games it asks if you want to save the game and to clear some of the internal memory; don't know how.

well, there is no internal memory on a ps1 - BUT, there is memory on the cards

i'm going to assume you picked up used memory cards. those are great, because they're compact, and hold a decent amount of memory for their size and time

here's what you need to do

start up the ps1 with NO games in it - but make sure the memory card[s] are hooked up properly - that is, make sure they are inserted just above the slots where the controllers connect. there is no reason to ever take them out, actually, except to switch them.

when the game comes on, you can choose a memory card, and it will show you all of the files that are on the card already. select some game data that is on the card, and then choose to delete it.

after you delete enough information, you will be able to use the card again.

i forget if the card has 12 or 16 slots, but MOST games take up 1 space. some take up 2, and a few take up as much as 4 spots.
