I've always wondered about that. Don't you just alter them in the traditional way, using thread as close as you can get to the original?

Okay that is an alterations term

when you adjust the length of the pant leg, you cut just above the "designer's hem" saving that colored stitching and you cut the hem above it and make it look more tailored. It is very professional.

Not like Mom just cut off your jeans like in junior high!

Being short, EVERY pant I own is hemmed that way.
