I tend to spend more time wondering If I mean it than if they mean it, then I get stuck on the fact that if I don't know, and he's a guy, how on earth could he ever hope to know? And love is love when love is meant, physical or emotional. If you love someone from the depth of your soul, do you not want to be with them? And if it's purely physical attraction, than that's a different emotion entirely; Lust.

That is an unanswerable question until you have been with someone a long time. I had several fiances who introduced me to such twisted forms of "love" that I was ready to give up. After one of my "loves" had abused me physically and mentally to the point where I was suicidal for months and had stopped eating to the point where I was fainting all the time, I finally ran and thought about what I wanted and what I had learned. I have been married for 25 years to a wonderful man who was a trusted friend and it turned into something more.
What some people say is love is the opposite to me, but there are many people who have the same wonderful definition of the word. It takes some time to tell one from the other.

I have always wished there were more words in english to capture all the different ways we "love" someone.
I think "in love" for most people is the infatuation...the thinking of them all the time with butterflies in your stomach.
The longer you are with someone the more that can grow into that "you complete me" kind of emotion.
If a guy tells you he loves you, you should know from the situation what he means. If its right after (or during) intercourse, well I wouldnt take it too seriously. If he is smiling at you in a goofy gaze, then he is probably "in love" with you. My favorite is when he can completely roll his eyes, shake his head, AND tell you he loves you...its like, "i know you this well, and i STILL want to be around you all the time." Thats what I call "love."

There are many different kinds of love, but the best way to figure out what kind of love you are experiencing is pay attention to the other person's actions and reactions. A person might be your friend; however, based on a close, healthy relationship, you might consider that friend as family, which is another category of love.
In terms of romantic love, ask youself if that person is kind to you, considerate of your feelings, and does things that you feel are romantic, but not necessarily sexual. Does he open doors, respect your opinion, hold your hand, treat you to date nights?

That depends on many things. I agree with you on loving people and animals but being in love is something spectacular. I guess it depends on how it was said and the emotion behind it. Saying I love you is more the norm. If there is passion in the love and you can't stop thinking about that person that is when you are in love. If I felt like that I would say "Kitty I'm in love with you. Not just I love you.

It depends on what their motive is. If they say it because they want to put a smile on your face and let you know someone cares, then yes. If they are saying it to get you to do something for them, then no.
And also, there are different kinds of love - you aren't going to love your parents the same way you love you cat, and you CERTAINLY won't love a future spouse the same way you love your parents or your pets.

The answer is easy for me. Love is not shown via words, it is shown via action. If the persons actions convey love, then I believe them.

It's not about what u say but what u mean.
And most often, no matter what another says, we can make out what they mean especially if u know them well.
