I wish there was some way to open the hearts and minds of the people that you are referring to. Unfortunately, their hate and ignorance is exceeded only by the contempt they have for the true spirit of religion. How arrogant they are to think that they follow the "Will of God". If there is truly a God then I have to believe that they will be the one's who will have to explain their unjustified hatred of their fellow Man. I would also think that if it is true that they are supposed to "Judge not, lest ye be judged", then their blatant contempt for His True Word will be their fitting downfall when and if they ever appear before Him.
They contradict themselves and the Bible because they truly fear what they don't understand. Isn't it ironic how many of them are exposed for what they really are? The closets in their homes eventually burst from the pressure of being "stuffed too full". Take comfort in knowing that the majority of those types of people will never experience true joy in life. They'll spend the rest of their miserable lives full of hate and then they will die. It would be interesting to see their Judgement Day.
It is frustrating and maddening to have to witness such hate and ignorance; but in the spirit of the religion that they use to spread their message, we can take comfort in knowing that they will ultimately be "defeated" by their own words. Karma is truly a "*****".

Loosely speaking, a person's "spirituality" concerns his/her relationship with the universe. "Religion" concerns that person's relationship with a divine being. A spiritual person recognizes a connection between all things that transcends the physical world (hence the emphasis on "spirit"). A religious person attributes these connections to a plan laid out by a greater power than we are able to see or fully understand. A significant difference is that religion is more often associated with codes of conduct or "morality." If you are seeking broader concepts like "the meaning of Life," but not necessarily looking to place everything into an ethical perspective, then I suppose you could be seen as "Spiritual but not Religious." On the other hand, if you see your religion as a basic set of rules by which you, as an individual, will achieve eternal paradise, then I'd definitely call you "Religious but not Spiritual." Thus, yes, both are possible...

Here's the difference, 1) A Spiritual person believes in a higher power, whatever that higher power may be to them and the laws that revolve around that belief. 2) A religous freak is someone who belongs to a religious movement or denomination(type of church, babtist, methodist, catholic, etc) and runs with how that religion believes what the bible says.
Truthfully it never says in the Bible that you should belong to a religous group or one certain type of church. It does state, however, to fellowship with like-minded believers. That is the problem, since many churches are just offshoots of others, because some people wanted to not be restricted by certain beliefs so they started their own church and revised the Bible to suit their own desires.
I must correct you, however, although the Bible was written in physical form by man, it was, however, inspired by God himself to those very same men. I believe that many Christians are completely wrong when they give off the message that God hates ******* or queers and such horrible things. Those people will be punished for using God to support their agenda. I believe many Christians who think they are going to heaven will, indeed, not go to heaven for such behavior, and I also believe that many people who aren't Christian, yet hate Christians for being "narrow-minded" will in fact also not go to heaven, since they have not saught out the truth, biblically, but rather spit hate back into the faces of those that they think hate them, so in the end, you both lose!

Right on the dot. Thank you for making this known in an answer. They needed to see this. =D
I'm not religious, seeing as I have no publicly known religion and I don't live by it 24/7, but from my knowledge of Christianity I presume the above is true, and the bible corrects itself many times over. The Bible is merely a crutch, a consitution for the Christian community. Religion is your right; right to live without it and right to live with it. Right to believe in what you want to believe in. My own religion is a mix of Eastern and Western newage stuff. God is who you want him to be, right? Or else, it sounds like a tyranny to me.
P.S. I don't wish to be offensive, so please take that in with a light heart! So far my posts seem to be sarcastic when they're not, hurtful when I don't wish them to be, and overall baaad. They're not though, or at least, not when I wrote them. =D
Merry Yule!

A spiritual person is content with living their lives according to their beliefs but respects the views of people who think differently. A religious freak will be intolerant of differing beliefs, disrespectful of others views and they try to shove their beliefs down other people's throats.

Spirituality is the ability to live and let live not judge others gossip or call them names even if there behaivior is bad. Humble people can not be insulted and humble people forgive people for making mistakes bieng inperfect or just plane dumb.
It not about what other people do its about what I do how I act and I had better be perfect before I judge someone else.

My favorite quote about religion vs. spirituality is: "Religion is for people who are afraid to go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there."
