Okay, i have a PS2 Slimline, it worked perfectly for months, then it started to mess up, so it was out of commision for a month, until my friend turned it n and it worked perfectly

now it's being picky, some games work great and some games need a little bit of wiping, and some games no longer work at all, and if they make it past the PS2 logo, it'll start to freeze

for reference, the only two gamess that seem to work with no problems at all is:

Kingdom Hearts 2
Burnout revenge
SSX Tricky

the rest of the games (SSX on Tour, Marvel vs. Capcom, etc, etc. (It's a long list) almost or barely work, any suggestions (already cleaned lens and discs and opened up PS2 and cleaned dust out)

the disk read error is caused by a mis-aligned laser in the unit, this was a common problem at launch in 2000 that resulted in a class action lawsuit filed against Sony.

Get on the phone with Sony and like the first response said, you will probably end up sending it to them for repair.

greater effective how? Graphically the Xbox beats the Ps2 right into a ****** hat, and it additionally has the nifty custom soundtrack decision, plus Xbox stay is plenty better to the PS2 online community... yet, the Xbox is gigantic in comparison to the slimline and the PS2 is nicely suited with all Ps2 and PSOne video games, meaning you have hundreds greater video games to chose from. i might pass with the Slimline PS2.

The laser may have a flaw in it so small you can't see it. you need to ship it to Sony and get it fixed.
