Go to Wikipedia.org and include some facts about puppies while making it go together to flow like a poem.

Come up with 4 features or impressions you want to focus on,
and write a sentence that takes up 2 lines each.

Try thinking of your 5 senses and appeal to each one so there is a full description or experience.

Examples:
* Trusting or playful nature
* cuddly or furry
* barking or wagging tail
* tongue or teeth nipping
* cold nose or whimpering
etc.

Try taking a famous poem about an animal, such as Emily Dickinson's poem about a bird (When God made music he wrapped it in feathers and put it in a tree), and writing a description for a dog instead. I did this exercise with a student, and he came up with a poem about "mischief" tapping on the door and jumping on him, or some creative metaphor like that.

So you have to write a poem on puppies, well thats an odd english/language arts project. well first you have to make everything ryme, well you don't but it makes it not so "tacky"
well just think of own expirece, that always helps. Maybe you can look at some poem and kinda "touch up" the poem, you can try that too.

I'm an ickle doggy
I'm cute and furry
I like to poop and pee where I shouldn't
I'm kinda sorry but
Look into my cute lil puppy eyes an' tell me
Tell me you adore me
And if you don't I'll poop and pee some more
Maybe next door
