hell yes. I love the cubs. pitching and a big bat are what they were missing. they filled a HUGE hole with soriano and ted lilly is a great pickup. if big Z keeps up his amazing pitching, prior stays healthy and lee and ramarez all have monster years they should be a least a playoff contender.

Sure.if they buy the tickets like the rest of us.No pitching will continually be the downfall of theCubs.Wood hasn't done much since his rookie year and Prior had one year where he did anything without being disabled. They signed a career .500 pitcher to be the number 2 starter(Ted Lilly) to back up Zambrano.Derrick Lee has been hurt and Aramis Ramirez isn't exactly a clutch hitter. They have no leadoff hitter,no base-stealers or bullpen. So you must think that Soriano will get the Cubs to the World Series by himself. If that were the case, the Washington Nationals would have been there last year.Quit drinking the Cubs Kool-Aid

Knowing the Cubs, no. Even though they spent all this money, did they really pick up anyone worth it outside of Soriano? Also, I dont know how Lou Piniella will fare here with all the losing attitude and such. While I'm a Sox fan, I do still kinda like the Cubs (how cant you?) so I guess I'll be pulling for them a little.
PS: They have a section for Baseball where you couldve put this question in.

Well, you know, there's always a possibility.. but probably not. The NL Central has a few tough teams to beat. Just adding Soriano isn't going to boost the team to the WS. So what if you have Jones, DeRosa, D-Lee.. they'll help. But I don't think they're going anywhere. Plus with the curse and all. But ever since 2004, anything can happen.

the team is stacked now with soriano, aramis ramirez, and derrick lee, but with we have to wait to see if the pitching aces like wood and prior can stay healthy and perform like they used to, the cubs will do very well but i dont know about the world series
