I can't uninstall Spysweeper (2005). I tried searching for spysweeper and deleting all of the files. I can't delete this one printer that I had installed. It just perpetually says 'deleting' no matter what I do or how many times I restart it. I have a few other minor problems. I tried defragmenting it. I tried system restore to the earliest possible date. None of these work. It's interfering with my ability to install new programs. I'm thinking about saving all of my important files on a disk and wiping everything. Is there a way I can do that? If not, then how can I fix my uninstallation problem?

You still some options before having to resort to reformatting Windows. You can try an uninstaller program. There are standalone uninstaller programs but I tend to use uninstallers which belong to a system utility suite. The uninstaller modules in Tune-Up 2006 and Iolo's System Mechanic 6 are superb. All you need to do enter in the path to the main Spy Sweeper program file and the uninstaller will do the rest. They will scan the registry and system files for all references to Spy Sweeper, including registry keys and dll library files. Though both are commercial products, both programs comes with a free 30 day trial period. I have yet to find a software program which these 2 system utility suites haven't been able to remove.

There are standalone uninstallers, such as Total Uninstall (http://www.martau.com/tu.php), which also comes with a free 30 day trial period. Its a good product but, if I had to choose, I stick with the utility suites.

If I was in your position I would try to do a system restore either by going to a restore point usually located under= programs/ pc help and tools .Or do a total system restore, which is usually can be done by pressing f8 once you turn on the computer until you get to the system restore screen.
