I think females believe that it is because of the marketing slogan. I'm sure some company just decided to use that slogan and then women started to think that "hey, that's true!" But in reality, there is no way a diamond can be a girl's best friend. That's just absurd don't you think?
I think diamonds make women feel unique and special because diamonds are expensive precious stones. Any man that is willing to shell out that kind of cash for a small stone is definitely going to get much love from a woman!

i am going to say no. but i guess it depends on the girl. if diamonds really are a girls best friend, i feel sorry for that girl. what a shallow sad existence

No, not really. Of course it is tradition to get one as an engagement ring, but other than that I think there are a lot more functional things that I'd consider my "best friend".

We like shiny things :P But let me tell you something... this depends on the girl. I, for example, hate gold so much [But loooovve diamonds when they sparkle]!

i dont neccessary think that diamonds are a girls best friend.. i think its just the joy of owning one..and especially when its from someone who they really like..we have pride and we like to show it to our friends to say "my bf/husband/gf loves me THIS much"
I personally dont mind if he just gives me a plain ring...its just the thought that counts..and even if its plain..i know he loves me just as much as the diamond gals..haha

For most women, but not me. I don't care about jewels or jewelry or any of that stuff. I'd rather have a new laptop than a ring the same price.
