you need to strengthen your arm

That is caused by repetitive strain syndrome. If you think about it throwing a football is a fairly un-natural movement. You wouldn't do it at any other time during a normal life. Because you are repeating this movement over and over again it is easy to strain your muscles. It can get to the point where your throwing accuracy and distance are affected. Throwing it harder makes it worse because when you throw you quickly stop your muscles at the point of release to give the ball momentum, a combination of this jolting of your muscles and the un-natural movement means your muscles just give up. Leaving you completely useless as a quarter back. If you see quarter back's or baseball pitchers at the end of a game, they strap and ice their throwing arm to reduce pain and swelling. Even the best suffer with this problem.

Could be the motion. The ball should really roll off of your fingers and you may not be following through, thus jerking your arm in a weird fashion.

it takes time because your arm isn't used to it.Try throwing balls 15 mins every day.
