Yep, I gotta say InDesign also. Quark has had the print industry by the short and curlies for over a decade, but has had very little innovation applied to it. I know of a few design agencies that still use Quark 4 when the latest version is 7.
Indesign is a lot easier to work with, especially if you already use PhotoShop for image manipulation and Illustrator for vector work. The type-setting tools in InDesign are very precise and it is very easy to insert ligatures and special characters.
Of course Adobe's PDF technology is at the heart if InDesign so it is as quick as (CTL or COMMAND) E to export any document as a PDF. Crucially, it is also easy to import a PDF into your document (in stark contrast to Quark's performance in recent years).
I hope this gives you some insight into the suitability of InDesign for your choice of page layout application.

I even have by no skill discovered InDesign in college the two, yet I labored with Illustrator, Photoshop, and Quark. i latterly did a week long fill in place at a photograph layout enterprise and that they only used InDesign for web page format. So I had by no skill even opened this methodology till I labored there, yet I had NO issues in any respect. that's set up plenty like Illustrator. I doubt you will want a classification in case you already know Illustrator and Photoshop nicely, yet i might verify in the previous you throw it on your resume. All courses are different, however the Adobe Suite is easy to capture onto as quickly as you have the carry of it. i won't be in a position to have faith you utilize Illustrator for web page layouts! there is plenty you won't be in a position to do with Illustrator or Photoshop for web page layouts. as quickly as you get into designing magazines or extensive information, you won't be in a position to get with the help of with Illustrator and Photoshop. specific, InDesign is meant for web page format, yet once you are going to layout for any super agencies or printers, you ought to use the two Quark or InDesign. basically study it your self, you're able to desire to be large. stable success!

QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign are desktop publishing applications. If you want to learn a graphic design application learn Photoshop or Illustrator, from Adobe.

In addition to the previous answers, with which I agree, I would add that if you have ever used Photoshop or a similar image-editing program, InDesign will be a lot more intuitive.
