Yes, despite what you hear from the vocal minority the USA is fundamentally a Christian Country. Why do you think the money has always said "In God We Trust" and why do you think courts make people swear on the Bible? We're "one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all." Merry Christmas
And just in case you don't know it, the Christmas Tree, symbolizes Christ on the Cross.

I think it should be allowed. Like an earlier post explained the Christmas tree is not a symbol that applies only to one culture or religion. But then again I don't think there would be anything wrong with putting up a menorah too. Maybe if people weren't so critical of each others beliefs we could all get along a little better. Neither of these symbols are meant to hurt or offend someone else. Only to celebrate a season that is special to people of many different faiths, cultures, and upbringings.

There is no right answer to that question. It's an ethical issue that the airports need to weigh. To be politically correct, yes, they should represent everybody, but the Christmas tree is a Pagan symbol adopted by Christians in order to celebrate Christmas. Also, with so many religions and sects to be representin', it's best to avoid the whole thing, yo.
Also, the gates of heaven, whatever your religion, are not given terminal numbers. Nobody's eternal fate will be determined by a decision to walk through or not walk through a particular airport. Then again, who am I to judge?

We're talking two different things here. Christmas trees aren't a religious symbol. A Menorah is a religious symbol, if they were putting up Creche's then they should also put up a Menorah.

Well I hate to burst your bubble but the christmas tree has nothing to do with the birth of christ. Neither do the ornaments ect. It's a decoration! Now if they set up a manger there then maybe they can pull out the menorahs.

Uh yah it should be allowed. We cant go around with public displays for everyone now can we. Besides unlike a christmas tree a menorah has actual meaning to the jewish celebration. A christmas tree is merely a pagan symbol adopted to celebrate Christmas.

The supreme court has ruled that a menorah, Christmas or Holiday tree, and Islamic star are all considered secular symbols. So legally, they can put up as many, or none of any combination of those.
But I think if they wanted to truly welcome all into their airport, they should probably display at least one of each.

Yes. This nation is by definition a Christian nation, and should be allowed to have a majority culture without others choosing to take personal offense.
Besides, I was unaware that a Christmas tree was a religious symbol. It isn't. It is pagan. A menorah is religious.

It's a Menorah for pete's sake.....is it that hard to put up?? I was a Chaplain Assistant in the U.S. Army many years ago and we were trained to be accomodating of others' beliefs.......that doesn't mean you flush your own beliefs, but a public place simply recognizes that Hannakuh is important to a large group of people, too. How much trouble would it have been??

America was formed with the Judea-Christian values in mind. I think people are trying to be too politically correct. A menora along side a Christmas tree is absolutely ok. Jesus is the reason for the season, and we shouldnt forget that. Its nice to see that some dept stores are back to saying Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. If someone immigrates to this country, then they should accept our way of practicing our traditions and faith. If they dont like what we do, then they should return to thier own country. If Atheists werent so afraid of God and religion, then they shouldnt object to anything that Christians do. If im not mistaken, the Constitition gives us the right to freedom of Religion, however we decide to practice it.

They should be allowed to put up any decorations they'd like to. But, if the airports want to be on good terms with and have customers from all backgrounds then they really should make an effort to do so.
