I believe you are doing great. Do not worry about it too much. People are encouraging you that and affirm you are good than why think lowly of yourself? I understand that you may have your own standards how good is to be great singer, but with practices that can help you to improve. I don't think you can't push because it takes time and training to get there.
If you want, just explore different styles, listen to different singers how they sing, and bring to your own unique style then you wouldn't compare yourself to and have perfect standard you want. Do you know that you are gifted if people are already speak positive affirmation to you? The matter is to take their advice with positive lookout for yourself than stuck in this comparisons to be the best, strive for perfectionism, and not good enough. Don't give up and keep going. Just do your best not to bother by your own standards or others think. You are awesome by the way you speak that it sounds you are working hard.
Voice is instrument that you can improve with different explorations out there or resources maybe take lessons, coach, or something. I think what it is that you may try lemon, honey, and whatever takes care of your throat and voice also.

I'm no ultimate singer, but I do love being in musicals... XD So basically, you have a couple things to learn.
Do not pick a song too high. If you sing out of your range for too long, your voice will crack and your throat will hurt and there's NOTHING you can do about that.
Don't drink milk if you are going to do a show.
Start with the 'bumblebee' warm up. It goes somewhat like this: C, E, D, F, E, G, F, A, G, B, A, C, B and then down. If you play it on the piano, it helps alot. Sing it in a couple different octaves/keys. Within two notes you say 'bumblebee'. (I'm sorry I couldn't say much more about it, you really do just have to play it.)
Don't tense up. Shoulders relaxed, hands at your side, feet shoulder width apart and head high. Focus on something in the back of the room, not only will it help with stage fright, it helps with focusing.
Depending on the song, you can tap to it. Make sure you read the music/listen to the CD.
Don't dance. Learn the song first, then sing it with any piano or other voices you have with it, THEN dance. Even if it's just a step slide step, it will make it harder to focus on.
Don't give up. Keep searching for songs. Just because you don't like the song doesn't mean it's not good for your voice. I find right now I'm singing things like 'Last Christmas" by Ashely Tisdale, 'I Learned From You' by Miley Cyrus and some other ones from her and even some old pop songs, like Dreamstreet stuff. I hope this helps! And one last things-- breathe. Take a breath when needed and take a break when needed. If you strain yourself you could hurt your voice. Happy Holidays!

Well, practice and experience is about it, plus if you can get a good person to listen to you. If someone pays you to sing, then you are probably a good singer, if you go to voice lessons, try to find a teacher that is honest with you. If you really want to test yourself, try out for American Idol...the judges can tell if you have a good voice.

first of all if you think your a bad singer but other's say you are it must be in your head. there's this sience thing for example: you mind think's it's 70 out side when it's below zero you can acually sweet but you have to be prity thick for that. see all your really missing is confidence i don't. when your practising make sheir you do worm up's or you'll be straning your vocal cord's witch mean's your harming your voice. othere than that just make sheir also that you give your self a challeinge in the song's you read. don't be singing row your boat.

No one will believe they are good at anything. I think it is good what you feel because it has not gone to your head! If your friends say you re good then believe them. You could take voice lessons with a trained voice coach. They will tell you the truth, but you will also improve yourself if you still think you are no good. I am sure you are good you just need mre confidence in yourself.

News Flash!! If you already practice for 3 hours a day you are not going to get better. Singing for the most part is talent. This talent you are born with. Obviously to be a good singer you must practice, but the key here is that you are already a decent singer with some potential.

We are always the worst critic of ourselves. Make sure that people are telling you honestly, and not just to get you to shut up. If you're good, you're lucky. I've allllllways wanted a good singing voice, but no such luck.

well, if people think your good than you must be. But, if you still want to make sure yourself bend your ears forward and you'll be able to hear your own voice much better. also, if you want to try singing lessons, that would proabably improve your voice and give you more confidence.

I think it's pretty good practice that you're getting. Maybe you could use a tape recorder and listen to yourself sing. Maybe you could also build up more confidence level of how good your singing might be.
