1. Randi Altschul - inventor of the world's first disposable cell phone
[ That's not wildly materialistic or anything. ]
2. Mary Anderson - invented the windshield wiper in 1905
[ Thought a clearer window would make her driving better. Was incorrect. ]
3. Virginia Apgar - invented the scoring system for scoring the health of newborn babies
[ Are "not killed in abortion" and "not infanticide victim", basically "I didn't kill it.. yet" on the list? ]
4. Katherine Blodgett - invented non-reflecting glass
[ Too ugly to look in mirrors. ]
5. Dianne Croteau- invented the CPR mannequin
[ Thus obsoleting herself in her marriage. ]
6. Bette Nesmith Graham - invented liquid paper/white out
[ Constantly changing her mind and making mistakes. ]
7. Ruth Handler - invented the Barbie doll
[ HAHAHAHA does this even count? And stop complaining that men want women to be barbies if a female invented them. ]
8. Ema Hoover - invented the telephone switching system
[ I'd give you this one because she was giving birth to her third child at the time, but the I'd have to withdraw it because modern women are only capable of signing a welfare form under the same circumstances. ]
9. Pasty Sherman - invented Scotchgard
[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotchgard
The original formula for Scotchgard was discovered accidentally in 1952 by 3M chemists Patsy Sherman and Samuel Smith.
a) Accidentally.
b) We can safely assume it was invented by Samuel Smith, with Patsy just getting some credit to help boost her low self esteem. ]
10. Betty Rozier- invented the intravenous catheter shield
[ "A catheter is a flexible tube inserted into some part of the body that provides a channel for fluid passage or a medical device."
Talk about penis envy. ]

Okay, I know this is going to turn into an argument about how women have never invented anything and haven't contributed to technology...
Please think about this logically for a minute: up until pretty recently, women and girls were not given an education like men have been for hundreds of years. Even if a woman in the past had a great idea, she would not be taken seriously, and would have no way to get any sort of funding or research help for her idea. Even today, women are shunned from going into math and science fields, because it is not feminine. Thankfully, the amount of women and men in medical school has evened out recently, and in the future we can expect many more medical breakthroughs and new technologies to come from women's ideas! I am in no way saying that women or men are better or smarter than eachother, I am just saying that when we have equal education, we will see equal amounts of discoveries and innovations from both.

WOW! White-Out, catheter gizmos and CPR Dummies!!!
They sure put your butt in it's place. If Tesla or Marconi or Edison or John Logie Baird or Edwin Land were still around I bet they'd be ashamed to show their faces in public.
Especially with men having had nearly EXCLUSIVE access to schools and books and the patent office for time immemorial and all.
