First it says the paretal level has been set. Then it changes security level to 7 then asks for a password for confirmation but i have never set a password for the PS2.

put the DVD in your ps2

when it asks for a password, PUSH SELECT

now, enter 7-4-4-4

this is the factory reset code

now, it will ask you to create a new password. a code like 0000 is decent, because it's easy to remember, and only requires pushing the X button. also, the next potential owner of the ps2 - should there be one- will not have to go through this, as 0-0-0-0 is a widely used code

You must of set a password first, because it cant change to security level 7 without you doing nothing and it asks you again for confirmation which means you type the password again.

First, check that the drive is ACTUALLY a DVD drive. I've seen more than a few people putting DVDs into CD drives, or trying to fit a 3½ inch floppy disk into a 5½ inch floppy disk drive. Make sure that the DVD logo is on the front of your disk drive. Without any information about your laptop model and details of the software you've installed, there's not much else I can suggest.

first time i put a dvd in i had to set the password. so someone has already set the password for yours. so if you bought the ps2 used i dunno what to tell you. however if the ps2 has always belonged to you, you could ask anyone else that might have used it to play a dvd etc.

if only you use it, then try 0000, 0123, 1111.

you have to fill in the password because its parental guidance so you can type something simple like xxxx or something like that. You have to do this so little kids cant come and play a dvd if there older brother was watching an innapropriate movie.
