I already have an IPOD and a portable DVD player, so I have no need to play music or watch movies from my gaming system. I have looked at the games for both, and I actually like the games for DS better. I want to get a good system that I will be able to use for sometime...

I would definately go for the Ds Lite!

reasons to get a nintendo ds lite-

-Cheaper than PSP (like a hundred dollars cheaper)
-less buttons that you have to mess with and you dont spend hours trying to find the right button.
-Dual screens with one touch screen that offers more interactive gameplay and a different view on games other than the regular one screen.
-clamshell design which keeps both screens well protected unlike the PSP where it has to be in a case or cover alll the time when you arent using it, so the screen doesnt get shattered.
-The stylus has a compartment in the actual system so you dont have to worry about losing it
-sleeker, smaller, lighter design than the PSP. It looks like an ipod and not some clunky gaming system with buttons all over it.
-Large library of games that are fun for a variety of ages including adults, teens and younger kids. Unlike the PSP games where most of them are fighting, violent games.
-comes with wi-fi so you can play around the world or with buddies
-comes with an instant messaging system called picto chat so you can draw pictures and type using the touch screen to communicate with your buds in a new way.
-accessories and games are way cheaper than the PSP's stuff
-less amount of memory cards and other gizmos to keep up with unlike the PSP.
- Also the ds lite has a wayyyyyyyyy brighter screen than the PSP so the graphics look better and you can play in any llighting condition since there are four different light settings.
-when new games come out for the ds if you can get to a wi-fi hotspot you can download demo games for the newer releases. you can play these demo games to see if you want to buy that game or not, instead of buying a game, playing it and then you dont like it and then you cant return it since you opened it. So I thought that was a neat feature.
-If you and your friend want to play against each other on a game but only your friend has that game you dont have to buy it because on most ds games you just download his and you can play against each other. you dont have to pay a dime! I thought that was awesome!

Overall the ds lite is a great system and is well worth getting. It will offer a new way of gameplay rather than buying another expensive PSP with just a regular screen and nothing special about it.

Okay now on to reasons to get a PSP.

-small thin design
-Big screen to play games and movies
-great graphics
-good library of games mostly violent fighting ones
-movies
-music
-internet
blah blah blah blah ect.

Anyways so I would reccomend you get the ds lite because if you have no need to play movies or music than why get an expensive gaming system when you dont need to do half the stuff it was meant for. go for the ds lite it is cheaper and more to the point of why you need it.
I hope you make the right desicion and I'm sure you will, even if you get the PSP, it was probably right for you then. Have a merry christmas!! Bye

I know people who've owned both a PSP and a DS and the PSP owner ended up selling it because the only good game for it was... Lumines. Awesome game, but there really isn't much variety in the PSP, game-wise.

Your iPod & DVD player cover the bases that the PSP is only really good for. It is a pretty little machine, but it just doesn't have much to do after you get over its wi-fi and movie playability, unfortunately.

If you want a portable system with a large variety of games, then the DS is definitely the way to go. It takes a little getting used to, but the dual screen system is actually pretty versatile. But! Consider a DS Lite over the original DS--many little improvements--lighter, better button configuring, brighter screen, and it's still cheaper than the PSP.

I sound like a frikking advertisement... jeez.

I actually own both. I bought my psp at release and bought my dslite on release (a year and a half later). The only games I ever liked on my psp were Lumines, Every Extend Extra, Burnout Legends, and Loco Roco. None of which were worth the price of the system. Sure the screen is nice and big and clear and the graphics are better than the DS, but the psp just isnt that...FUN. Sony tried to combined music/movies/games into one system and as a result, all parts are ok, but none of them are GREAT. Nintendo built a game system strictly for playin games and it is alot of fun. Also the psp gets finger prints on it and the screen scratches easily. The dslite folds up and you dont have to worry about scratching the screen. Also the dslite battery life is "lite"years beyond the psp.

From being a hardcore gamer, and actually a huge sony fan, my advice is get a DSlite. The only reason I'm keeping my psp is in hopes of them releasing a Gran Turismo title for it.

I like the PSP because if I am on the go I can have my music, movies, and games all in one thing. If you don't have an MP3 player that's a good deal. The PSP is awesome for when I am laying in my bed and want to look something up real quickly with the browser. But it's a matter of preference as someone stated.

Yea, I have a Nintendo DS Lite, I love it! I have nintendogs and it is life like and it for all ages. You don't need internet all the time! It's hard to find a connection, then stay thre in order for it to work. But no probelm with a Nintendo DS. All you need is to pop in your game and play! It works very well and it is worth the money!

I have never used a PSP before but my DS gets pretty old. THe only game i have fun with is mario. The stylus is over rated.

I would get a psp just because you can surf the web and their hackable so you can play nintendo games on them

Well I guess in your situation it would be the PSP because it can watch movies right out of the box, and you download music right on it also.
