Some people find it difficult to get into the new school or work. What was good about your induction, and what more should be done? Does it need any improvement for future"new students"?

My university was very organised when I had my induction. They had a main presentation/introduction session and following that there was a tour of the Law School and all the facilities and at the end there was an opportunity to ask the tutors any questions with regards to the course or the university generally. We were also given questionnaires to complete at the end as to the quality of the induction and ways in which it could be improved for future students.

Induction? I don't remember an induction. I made a lot of friends straight away. You are meeting people of the same age, with similar interests and of a similar academic mindset to you - how could you not make friends.
I don't think the induction matters at all at uni. In work or other places where people of very different ages, abilities, interests and mindsets meet is where an induction is useful.

A course in how to study effectively, and a course in how to put together a research paper would have been very helpful.
