I was raised by my great-grandparents. I'm named after my great-grandfather. My great-grandfather, Richard Repine Harris, was born on Dec. 7th, 1880. He was an inventor and electrical engineer, who made his living by leasing several of his inventions to local (Miami, Fl) greyhound race tracks. I have written a number of short stories in which he is a character of note.

My great-grandmother, Susannah Catherine Harris, was born on June 29th, 1875, in Johnstown, Pa. She was a housewife to my great-grandfather for over fifty years, and a long time Methodist.

My great-grandfather also traveled where ever his work took him, this included the Southwest, where he once traded shots with Pancho Villa and his bandits, while on a train. He was the chief engineer, who installed the first power and light plant in Utica New York.

I know much more, but I don't wish to bore you further.

Well me great-great grandparents were Assyrians living in southern Turkey who survived the Assyrian Genocide, committed by the Ottoman Turks simply because they were Christian. They migrated to Iraq to save their lives.

Not a whole lot, except for my great-grandpa on my dad's dad's side. He lived to be 102 and LOVED telling stories. That man could keep all 40+ great-grandkids enthralled for hours with his stories about his life. I know a little about my great-grandma on my dad's mom's side and my great-grandma on my mom's mom's side, but that's about it. I did have a close relationship with my grandma (on my mom's side)'s uncle and still do so with my grandpa (on my dad's side)'s 103-year-old aunt (great-great aunt?).

This is a very thought provoking question in deed. I know a good amount of my father's life but know nothing about my grand father's life. I know the linage- merely the names of about 14 ancestors but absolutely nothing about them.
