Well, if you look at the extremist viewpoints they say a lot of stereotypical BS has to do with it. Greed and being good with money, enslaving other people who aren't. Etc. etc. This question is opening up a whole can of worms because the biggest weirdos can claim that Jews or blacks (or whomever is on the chopping block next) are responsible for whatever new atrocity that comes along. It's all a system of blame. And, alas, Jews have tended to be rather successful throughout history at commerce and, well, life.
Pure jealousy is my answer.

its all bout perception.
30 million Russians died during WW2 alone.
There have been times when Jews were persecuted but most of the time they have always flourished.
Last time I checked its the jews who are doing the persecution in Palestine. Read the great new book by President Carter for more information: Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid

Because historically Jews have purposely segregated themselves from every society they have been in contact with. When they lived in Europe in the 14th-16th centuries, they declined to be a part of the larger societies and stayed in their own little sects. When they lived with the Hittites, Phoenicians, Babylonians, .... even before they were a conquered people, the Jew's systematically kept themselves away from other societies.
By taking themselves out of the common culture of whatever place they were living in, the Jews invited scorn, ridicule, and suspicion.

Without 'religious' answers you don't get the truthful answer. BTW, I am not in any way anti-semitic. [In spite of being from Ireland which has had an appalling anti-semitic history].

They persecuted others? Examples please. I am particularly interested in examples before the past couple hundred years - as Jews have been persecuted forever.
