Also, I've found the best way to get rid of my daughter's cradle-cap was to apply baby oil to her scalp, let it sit for about 30 minutes, then bathe your baby and use a fine baby comb to comb it out. It worked wonders! Good luck.

Cradle cap is a crusting and scaling rash found on the scalps of many healthy babies. The sebaceous glands in their skin are hyperactivated often because of mom’s hormones that crossed the placenta just before birth. These glands pump out a greasy substance that keeps the old skin cells attached as it dries.

Cradle cap is very common. Cradle cap isn't cute, but it's harmless. Most often it shows up in the first few months of life, and it usually clears up on its own in about six to 12 months — although some babies have it for several years.

These links should help.

It's basically just dandruff that builds up as scaly patches on your baby's scalp.

Lightly massage the scalp with a little mineral oil at bathtime to help lift the scaling, then, using a baby-safe hairbrush, brush the scalp gently.

It is when the skin on the top of the head is dry and flakes off. This is coursed b wetting he head to much and not drying the hair properly. It can be fixed with baby and drying the head better when you have wet it.

It's when a baby is born w/ very dry scalp. My son had it. It may even be a form of dermatitis.
