There are many things you could try:

1) Tell him no/ tell him to stop in a firm manner
2) Time-out
3) Pops are fine-- as long as they are given "out of love"
4) Give him a warning before it's time to come in-- "You have a few more minutes to play"
5) Ignore the tantrums-- avoid giving attention/ feeding into negative behavior.
6) Be firm, fair & consistant.

* Be patient-- hopefully this stage will pass. Don't stress out the baby-- Congrats & Best Wishes:)

Hi, looks like we are in the same boat i have a 22 month old daughter and i am 25 weeks pregnant. The best way to deal with tan trims is ignore him when he does it, the more you give him attention the more he is going to do it. Just say to him when he does it that he will not have any treats for the rest of the day is he continues and that you don't like little boys who behave like this and then just walk away go and do something you need to do. You will find the tan trims will not last as long and they will hopefully stop when he realises that he isn't going to get his own way.

It's normal for kids this age to have tantrums because they know what they want but they can't quite communicate so they get very frustrated. He is old enough that you might try letting him know that you are aware of what he wants and possibly help him to verbalize it, which is half his frustration, and then gently tell him that it's not possible and try to distract him. He will probably still cry, but maybe for a shorter time. Just remember it's a good sign that he's developing normally and you should try not to let it upset you too...and I've never seen spanking STOP any kid from crying! Good luck!

When he throws a tantrum ignore him if you are at home, unless he is in danger of hurting himself. Spanking because they don't want to go to bed or crying when they are woken up is not good. They will end up associating bedtime with punishment and make bedtimes harder. My 2 year-old son will cry really hard sometimes when he wakes up from his naps and all I do is hold him, and he is fine in a couple of minutes. Try playing soothing music at his nap and bedtimes. We have a continuous play CD player in our son's room and we play classical music, Kenny G, Nora Jones, etc. Just don't have it very loud. Do NOT put a TV in his room because seeing the pics on the screen may disrupt his sleep.

I like to call them the terrific twos. He's at that age where he is testing you and seeing how far he can bend you. Just be firm but not rough. It's a hard time for them too they are trying to figure how who they are too. Patience is the key it will pass soon i promise. Good luck

what you do is dont move him but try and keep a blanket under him at all times and then wen he falls asleep leave him there but if he is in a bad place then just move him a little so that way he is not in harms way

Maybe he is scared for his mommy. he doesnt know what is going on. you should probably talk to him about what it going to happen. buy boks and videos he can watch about you and his new sibling. I think there is a sesami street video and book about getting a new brother and sister
good luck.
