when one person's values are more accepted by a society then they will overpower another person.

Yes. Some values simply MUST trump others.

Consider...

Hitler tried to exterminate people that did not share his ideology. There are many tribes in Africa that try to kill off other tribes, often because of differing views.

If we didn't choose the "best" values to follow, collectively, then the world would live in anarchy and we'd all be subject to the whims of the few people who were able to exert the most pressure on everyone else.

Apparently when you're President your values trump everyone's and being President somehow makes you think you have the right to espouse those values on everyone else because you have the best Army. I'm not sure where the logic in that is but its apparently the reasoning for why America is in the mess it is in now.

Yes and no, depending on exactly how you meant your question.

I believe in society, some people's values can lead to others having restricted rights to live their personal values. For instance, the smoking ban. It is against my values and morals to smoke, so I vote for the smoking ban that prevents others from smoking inside buildings and consequently exposing me to second-hand smoke. In that way, my values trump others, I suppose.

In general, many people try to force their values upon others, in ways such as preventing legal abortion, etc. Values lead to opinions, and we know how dangerous those are!

Yes, the majority group's values are more dominant. But we do a pretty good job in America of balancing it. Not always pretty, but we usually work it out to accomodate everyone, don't you think?
