Periods generally last 3-5 days, but can vary a lot at first. It's a good idea to track it on a calendar, then you can time it better and keep a pad/tampon in your backpack when you know it's coming. Generally you menstruate about every 28 days, but that can vary a lot, too. Mine were about every three months at first. But yes, talk to your mom or a friend who has gone through it already, or someone else who you feel comfortable with.

Remind your little sister that she'll be going through it someday too!

How long it will last will be entirely up to your body. Some lucky girls get it for about 3 days, others 7 and longer! You could write down today as your first period on a calendar and then mark the first day of your next. If you do that for about 6 months, you'll have an idea of how long your cycle is. For lots of women, it's 28 days. But for others it's shorter or longer. But you don't *have* to. I'm on the pill, which pretty much tells me when I'll have a period, I work in family planning AND I'm 32...and when the doctor says, "When was your last period?" I *always* answer, "I dunno." You'll get the placement of the pad thing so that they don't leak...ask your mum to show you exactly how to put it in. And as for your sister...tell her that her days are numbered being period free. Congratulations!

Tell your little sster to shut up.
Also call her flat chested that should shut her up. Also a period normally lasts between 2 and 10 days. The first can be irregular so it might be light one minue then heavy the next. Your first may last a long time or i could end in an hour. don't worry about keeping track just yet, but if you want you can at www.beinggirl.com under your period. And tell your mom. If you are too embarrassed to tell her in person tell her in an email.

Most periods last about 5 days and then you will get the next period approx 4 weeks later but as this is your first it can varey you may not get another one for a couple of months.. There are different size pads you can use but things will settle down after this period and you will probably only nead to use a basic pad. You may want to try tampons, once you get used to them they are more practical than pads, less messy and more comfertable but its a matter of choice. Your little sister will soon get tired of making fun of you its because its all new.

tell her well you'll get it some day hahahaha
they normally last 4-6 days. Your mom should get thicker pads if it leaked. Oh and for awhile it might come at different times of the month so don't freak out. Also, last year in december mine skipped because of stress and then I got it twice that may lol. You can also tell her that she'll be having her period until she's 50 too lol

1. Talk to your mom about it! :)

2. Keeping track helps - you will see how regular they are and begin to know when to expect them.

3. They last "3 - 5 days" typically, although it could be as long as a week. Everybody is different.

4. Your little sister is just jealous. Don't let her get to you. Stay away from her as much as possible :)

Good luck!

Yellow for your knickers is subjective. If it is brownish yellow then sure however yellow discharge sounds infectious. When you interval is over make certain you dont see this nastiness for your drawers.

You should really talk with your mom about this instead of strangers.
My mom showed me everything.
