Its part of our human genome. It signals a desire for change amongst a group. The yawn is not due to being tired, its from the boredom.

its just the same we smile when we hear someone laugh its a genetic trigger and just talking about yawning can have the same effect

i dno but it's wierd tho.. even when i see a person yawn on t.v i would sometimes yawn too

Nobody knows for certain. One theory is that in the early days of mankind it was a way for groups of nomadic people to synchronize their sleep. I guess it was advantageous for the group to all sleep at the same time.
