Pantyhose are definitely a must for an occasion like a wedding reception and the like. However, contrary to the suggestion of wearing uncomfortable pantyhose, you will definitely be happier if you wear comfortable pantyhose...it just makes more sense you know. The trick is to not lie to yourself about what size actually fits well...it's ok to get a size bigger if you're between sizes. They will feel better and there's less risk of a small snag causing a disastrous run (think overinflated balloon...much easier to pop).

Off black is a good compromise if you feel that nude is too frumpy, but black is too formal. Pantyhose are not meant to be a substitute for a tan *especially* if your legs won't match the rest of you. Think of them more as makeup for your legs. You go to the effort of putting on makeup so your skin looks its best...even a hint of color for accent...do the same for your legs!

How formal is the wedding reception? How cold is it out there? Is it an outside wedding?

I am going to say, if it is a formal reception, you will probably feel more comfortable in a pair of uncomfortable pantyhose.

If you are really unsure, why not ask someone else that you know who is also going to the same wedding what she might be doing.

Most of the time, you are best of wearing the hose, especially if you are going to ditch your shoes to dance!

I think you should because it is a formal event and you want to look your best. Dresses, especially black ones, usually look better with them, but if you have a longer like dress that all you can see is a little above the ankles or less, not wearing pantyhose would be acceptable.

Depends on how long the dress is. If it's a cocktail dress, you should wear them. Unless you are really tan, have waxed legs and no visable veins or bruises, people can totally tell you aren't wearing them. A black dress will make your skin look lighter by contrast which will make your legs look pastey. Pastey legs look less toned. Too look your best, wear pantyhose.

I guess the real question is why wouldn't you wear pantyhose. An evening wedding is formal, and bare legs are certainly NOT formal. Wear suntan, black, or off black.

Depending on your hemline, stockings may work. If your hem is high, then pantyhose. Try a pair of sheer hose with a low denier. Nylons help enhance the look of the leg.

I think it depends on what color the pantyhose are and also the setting of the reception and how comfortable you are with your legs.

I think no matter what its more respectable to wear hose, i would tell you to go with thigh highs or stockings and garters to make it more of a sensual feel and maybe towards the end of the night if you want remove them but only after most people are full of drinks and not paying any attention to those fine details.

I would say yes, especially if you live in a colder climate, black or off black with black shoes would be classy and appropriate. Unless you're wearing strappy open-toed shoes, then make sure you have a good pedicure. I'd accessorize with classic pearls or simple diamond pieces....remember, less is more.
